Full-time 2020 Farming Field Technician opening:
Snipes Farm and Education Center seeks a full-time Field Technician for the 2021 season. The Field Technician will work in all field areas of organic crop production alongside, and report to, the Field Manager. Duties will include (but are not limited to) bed preparation; direct sowing; transplanting; irrigation; weeding/cultivation; cultural practices; pest, disease and fertility management; and harvesting with the farm team. Varied equipment and machinery use (including small tractors with PTO- & ground-driven implements) is required with on-farm training. A minimum of one (1) full growing season of experience on a diversified produce operation is also required. Willingness to learn from new challenges and an ability to work patiently on a team (which could include volunteers) and solo are essential. This paid position begins April 5 and ends November 19.
