Full-time 2021 Farming Field Technician opening:

Snipes Farm and Education Center seeks a full-time Field Technician for the 2021 season. The Field Technician will work in all field areas of organic crop production alongside, and report to, the Field Manager. Duties will include (but are not limited to) bed preparation; direct sowing; transplanting; irrigation; weeding/cultivation; cultural practices; pest, disease and fertility management; and harvesting with the farm team. Varied equipment and machinery use (including small tractors with PTO- & ground-driven implements) is required with on-farm training. A minimum of one (1) full growing season of experience on a diversified produce operation is also required. Willingness to learn from new challenges and an ability to work patiently on a team (which could include volunteers) and solo are essential. This paid position begins April 5 and ends November 19. Snipes Farm Day Camp is an educational program of a 501c3 nonprofit whose mission is to model and teach sustainable farming, build community and reconnect people to the land. It is located on a 150-acre, 7-generation, USDA certified organic farm in Lower Bucks County, PA. Farm Campers and Camp Leadership Youth learn first- hand about where their food comes from and to cook with fresh ingredients that they have harvested themselves. They practice good stewardship caring for animals and a garden. They contribute to a caring community and connect with nature and the life around them. There are daily adventures in the woods, creek, fields, orchard and children’s garden. Additionally, art, science and games fill our days!

Snipes Farm Day Camp runs for 8 weeks: June 21- August 13, 2021

A required staff training is: June 14-18, 2021


Lead Counselor:

  • Plan and direct the activities for a group of 12-15 campers with the support of an assistant, a Councilor-in-Training (CIT) and the camp director
  • Develop curriculum or use existing lesson plans for activities designed to meet the developmental needs of a particular age group
  • Mentor the assistant instructor and CIT
  • Maintain an environment of emotional and physical safety including standard Covid prevention practices
  • Help with daily staff chores and to maintain a pleasant, safe and tidy camp environment
  • Model compassion, curiosity and enthusiasm!

Must be over 21 years of age

Two years previous teaching experience

Current references

PA clearances that are current: Child Abuse History Record; Criminal History Record; Fingerprinting
