2020 Snipes Farm Day Camp Weeks & Themes

Every day the camp program provides opportunities for campers to spend time with animals, explore the woods, creek, gardens, play games and do arts and crafts. Weekly themes simply add zing to every week with special ways to build community, connect to the farm, learn new skills and have adventures!

Week 1: June 22-26

  Friends and Neighbors

Meet up with old friends and make new ones at Farm Camp! Explore ways to be a great friend and many ways to be kind. Share your talents! Let’s see what community looks like when we meet neighbors who are bakers, musicians and artists and do cool stuff together.

Week 2: June 29-July 3

 Barn Yard Pallooza
Learn about Luna and Belle our goats, Hazel and Coffee and other bunnies, Jake and Abigail (the turkeys), our many chickens and other animal camp friends.  Play animal games, sing animal songs, and do animal art. Learn about how animals live and the best ways we can care for them.

Week 3: July 6-10

Young Chef’s Week
Back by popular demand: a week of fun cooking! Pick berries, fresh veggies and herbs and cook up a storm as we make smoothies and homemade jam, cook over a campfire and make delicious recipes together. Everyone will take recipes home at the end of the week.

Week 4: July 13-17

Moovin’ and Groovin’
Lights! Camera! Action!   Play an instrument? Is hip hop your groove or ballet? Got a song to sing? Bring your talents to camp! Drumming, yoga, song writing-there will be something for everyone. Let’s learn about the science of sound and movement and what helps us to hear and leap!

Week 5: July 20-24

Climate Pirates
Ahoy, mateys! Welcome aboard for a week of conservation and conscious living! Every ship takes a crew of dedicated people to help it safely sail through choppy waters and stormy seas. We'll compost, plant pollinator friendly plants, help our creek thrive and map our ecological footprints. Together we will be the green dream team that helps our amazing planet!

Week 6: July 27-31

Artful Adventures
Discover art anywhere! Choose painting, weaving, drawing, clay or collage for artful adventures. Meet local artists and share your talents. Make our campus more beautiful and make art with natural materials found on the farm.

Week 7: August 3-7

 Globe Trotters

Let’s celebrate many cultures this week! Speak another language? Does your family cook recipes from other lands? Bring them to camp!  Let’s learn songs, make art and share stories from around the world. Let’s make connections from our everyday to people and places everywhere!

Week 8: August 10-14

 Branching Out
A tree-mendous week awaits as we meet the beautiful old trees on the farm. Let’s explore trees as homes, the anatomy of a tree, what all is made from trees in our homes, for food and more! We’ll make paper and simple wood projects. Let’s find the many different kinds of trees young and old, tall and small from seed to sapling to towering above us!

Week 9: August 17-21

Super Heros
Imaginations run free! Who inspires you? Who are your super heroes and why? What are your own super powers? Stories true and imagined will be created and shared about amazing things that can happen when suddenly someone has to do something to save the day-and it could just be YOU or ME!
